Marco Ianniello PhD
Marco is an independent documentary filmmaker, screenwriter and senior academic. His award winning documentaries have screened on Australian television and festivals worldwide. In addition to documentary Marco specialises in TV drama screenplay writing, editing and critical research. He recently completed a creative practice Ph.D investigating the structures and characters of TV drama screenplays and this work will be the basis of the forthcoming book, Composing TV Drama to be released in 2024 by Lexington Books.
Alongside Marco's industry engagement for documentary and TV drama screenplay, he is a senior lecturer in film and screenwriting at The University of Notre Dame Australia. Marco is a graduate of the Australian Film TV and Radio School, where he completed a Masters of Arts in Documentary Producing in 2003/4 and completed his Ph.D at The University of South Australia with creative practice and screenwriting research leader Professor Craig Batty in 2023.
Hannah Ianniello PhD
Hannah is a writer, musician and academic from Sydney. Her fiction writing brings together her interest in language, music and character development, to produce moving narratives that draw the reader through her characters’ life-changing moments. She also has an interest in writing creative non-fiction and screenplays and is open to new styles and forms of writing in all her work.
Hannah recently featured in the UTS Anthology – for a creative non-fiction piece ‘Lambs to the Slaughter’ and a fiction short story ‘Beatrice’. In October 2021, Hannah had a creative non-fiction piece ‘Sunny’ published as the feature story in a new literary magazine in the US, The Honeyguide Literary Magazine. She has previously published a short story titled ‘Swing’ in Southerly Literary Magazine, as well as two vignettes in The Vignette Review.
Hannah has also published several book reviews in Southerly, three academic papers and two book chapters in academic publications. Hannah is a skilled screenwriter, and has been longlisted twice for the Austin Film Festival Screenplay Competition, and has won an award for a short screenplay she co-wrote with her husband, which was also turned into a 26-mintue short film.
Hannah is also an accomplished singer, pianist and cellist and has performed in bands and solo across Australia. She has recorded and produced three albums of original songs and has recorded and performed as a session musician with many bands.
Hannah holds a Masters of Creative Writing as well as a PhD in creative writing and literature, and a Graduate Certificate of Editing and Publishing. She currently teaches creative and academic writing at a postgraduate level.
